More Than a Diploma
City View Community High School is a public magnet high school within the Cedar Rapids
Community School District. Enrollment is open to CRCSD students through the district’s
magnet application process.
To be successful at City View, students should be prepared to meet the following expectations:
- Enrollment in at least one Kirkwood Community College course per semester
- Participation in internships or community-based projects as part of the school week
- Maintenance of a minimum 2.0 GPA
- Demonstrated readiness in Math and English Language Arts (based on ISASP or equivalent measures)
- Ability to function independently with support in professional and college-style settings
Important to Know
- City View students remain CRCSD students
- Students may participate in athletics, fine arts, and activities at their resident high school
- College credit is earned at no cost to families
How to Apply Timeline
Step 1: Learn about City View
Families are encouraged to review City View materials, attend an information session, or
schedule a tour.
Step 2: Complete the CRCSD Magnet Application
- Magnet lottery opens February 5th, 2026
- Select City View Community High School as a preferred option
- Families can expect to hear back by Spring Break of 2026.
Step 3: Follow-up (if needed)
Some students may be invited to a brief conversation to confirm fit, readiness, and interest. This is not an academic test or screening.
Step 4: Placement and Notification
Families will be notified of placement decisions by end of March 2026 and will receive next steps for enrollment and scheduling.
